MUST READ FOR iPHONE & UCONNECT USERS

A MUST READ FOR UCONNECT USERS**

i have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ uconnect and the new iPhone G3. i thought i had the same pairing issue (it paired fine, but would not connect when making a call).

i soon discovered that that the uconnect system worked fine with the iphone G3, but had a minor volume control issue that is mainly an inconvenience more then anything. not sure if this issue is the same with all uconnect models, however this is want i discovered. with my old phone (Treo 755), i found that when i made a call using uconnect, it would pickup the call as soon as i dialed. i was able to hear the call ringing before the other party picked up. with my iphone, uconnect for some reason will not pickup the call until the other party answers the phone or voicemail picks up. when the call picks up, i find that the car volume is much softer then normal and needs to be turned up .

one other issue i found, i had both my iphone and my treo in the car at the same time. i needed to turn off the bluetooth on my old phone.

my suggestion is that you go back and make a few more test calls. if your iphone paired correctly, you should be given the option to switch between, speaker phone, uconnect, and iphone. switch back to speaker phone until you hear the other party pick up and switch back to uconnect.

hope this helps a few of you.

It's actually a phone issue. The UConnect system uses advanced Bluetooth connectivity to push data( the phonebook) unfortunately the Iphone freaks out and it resets the Bluetooth. I take it other phones with older bluetooth software are doing the same thing. It is 100% a phone issue. It ***** that you can't turn off the auto phonebook download. That would be a fix. After being on the phone with apple for about 2 hours I found out that they are aware that they have an issue with the Bluetooth and uConnect system. The current software for the iphone 2.2.1 doesn't support data transfer via Bluetooth. They told me that they are aware of the issue and the 3.0 software will 100% fix the issue. Whenever that gets released. It ***** to have the most expensive phone on the market and to have a cheap $40 pre pay phone be able to connect with data push and the iphone can't. Pretty sad. Apple is almost as glitchy as Windows... PC should start making some commercials.

It would seem most people aren't having the success you are. For me, I have an original iPhone that worked perfectly with the UConnect in my 2008 Jeep Liberty. The 2.0 upgrade causes the iPhone to no longer connect to the UConnect. It'll pair just fine. It won't connect except maybe once out of every 20 or 30 times, and when it does, it takes forever to do so.

2007 Magnum w/Uconnect. Original iPhone with 2.0 software. Not working.
2007 Magnum w/Uconnect. Original iPhone with 1.1.4 software. Works fine.

I can pair the phone, the system in the car accepts the passcode and pairing with "UCONNECT" shows on the phone. However, the car has no clue that the phone is in the car. The gray gear just spins indefinitely.

Just adding my problem to the list.

Same problem. Bought a nice new factory installed uconnect set up for an '07 Nitro. Worked GREAT UNTIL I updated a Pre-3G phone to 2.0. NOW all it does is pair and then poof phone not found!!!!!!

Has anyone heard if there is a fix in the works?

I need help quick.....the phone with the issue is my wife's and now it is my issue!!!!!!

Desperate for a solution....

Same problem as others. Iphone and Uconnect will confirm pairing but will not discover. All worked great until I ungraded to version 2.0 on phone. Based on calls I have made, Apple is aware of issue and Uconnect has been advised. Some patch or fix is being considered but don't know the timing. Will appreciate if anyone hears of a solid solution.

I have the same basic situation with the Uconnect in my 2008 Grand Cherokee. It does pair and if I attempt to initiate a call from Uconnect, the iPhone and battery meter display as present, the call is transmitted to and sent by the iPhone, but no audio connection occurs and Uconnect doesn't show a call in progress. I actually did get one call to apparently work, but got cut off.

I suspect this a timing issue related to the echo problems reported with BMWs. FWIW, my 3G connects fine with my Prius' Bluetooth - maybe this is Apple's idea of promoting green....

I have a 2008 Nitro R/T and am having the same basic problems as the others have listed. Both, the phone and the Uconnect show that my phone is paried, yet I get no battery meter on the Uconnect and it doesn't see my phone at all. My previous phone (Cingular 8525) connected and worked flawlessly only when I wasn't using my BT ear piece. When I did have problems with the Uconnect and my old phone (due to the ear piece) I called the factory and was told I could press and hold both Uconnect buttons (phone and radio control) to reset Uconnect, and this helped get my phone to connect faster after turning off the Ear piece. This trick is not working at all with the Iphone 3G. I can pair the 3G (using passkey 0000) but nothing works. Hopefully Apple will fix this REAL QUICK (are you listening Apple?) 🙂

Same problem here. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram Laramie. Uconnect worked with old firmware. Does not work with 2.0. I am furious as I absolutely despise people who ride while using their phones; which is why I got uconnect. Now, thanks Apple, I have to be a hypocrite.

I called apple and they really just refuse to help. I asked for the older software for the phone and they refused that too. My old $40 phone worked perfectly with uconnect. Wish I still had that plus my $400 for the iphone.

My wife has a 07 Grand Cherokee SRT8 and the uconnect worked great with a RAZR. But we both got new iphones this weekend and neither will work. The phone pairs after entering the password, but the bluetooth icon on the iphone never turns blue. I have had an iphone since the first month iphone version 1 came out, I am very familiar with how the phone and pairing it with various headsets works, so this is not something I am doing wrong. Apple please fix this somehow. My wife is livid! She uses her uconnect daily and it is now a safety issue if she has to hold the phone to her ear while driving.

Hey me too!

I have been using my iPhone for just about a year. Its software was updated Monday of last week, if I remember correctly. Since then I think I’ve pared the phone about 20 times. I’ve tried to use it in my ‘07 300C 20ish times. I have yet to get a call out, but every once in a while a call will come in via uConnect.

Having this forum is great for knowing I’m not alone. It is a great start. Now how about a solution to my pain!

Robert

You are all not alone!! I just bought a 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT8 two months ago, and the new iphone 3g three days ago. I had a razor before and it worked perfectly with the uconnect in my new car. Then I broke the screen on the razor, and borrowed a friend's old motorola something or other, and that worked fine as well. With the new iphone, all is NOT well. Same problem as everyone else, it pairs with the uconnect, only to tell me "phone not available" when trying to make a call. It actually made two calls and received one over the past three days that I've had the new phone, but that is totally UNACCEPTABLE!! Please Apple, FIX THIS FAST!! $43,000 for a car and $400 for a phone and I can't use the car's Blue tooth??? I'm not a happy Apple customer!!
