Yahoo Email

Hey guys,

Need help, my yahoo email was working great until this morning. I have tried several times to delete the account and re install.

However, when I go into the yahoo email and it keeps checking for mail but does not download new mail. I know I have new mail.

But when I delete and re-install, it shows up. I have saved folders and when I re-install, those folders download.

Yahoo bizmail send issue has been solved!

If you have a yahoo biz mail account on your iPhone that has suddenly stopped working as a push account -- even though you never changed any settings -- here's how to fix it.

1. Delete the Yahoo BIZ account from your phone. Good riddance to it! (Do not delete your primary personal Yahoo acct on your iPhone as those should still be working -- but if not, this pop/smtp trick will also work for you...)

2. See my earlier post that came directly from yahoo about setting up a a Pop account on your phone. It is in this thread. You need these settings to manually input on your iPhone.

3. AND HERE IS THE BIG THING YOU MUST DO IN ORDER FOR THE SETTINGS TO WORK!

4. Do not set up a "Yahoo" account from the "iPhone add an email account". This will not work even though you are using yahoo mail for your yahoo mail biz acct..

5. SELECT "OTHER" in the iPhone email selections and set up the bizmail account there. And only here will it work. "OTHER" is the last option after aol and gmail accts.

6. Further, fill out all the pop and smtp settings EXACTLY per my earlier post for pop set-up on an iphone.

7 . When asked to fill in the OPTIONAL PASSWORD AND USER NAME IN THE SMTP areas -- THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL!!! The mail will not work unless you fill in these boxes. This is very important. It took me 6 or 7 tries before I finally filled in these optional smtp settings and then VOILA -- it works.

Let me know if you guys have the same success.

PS. The weenies at Yahoo have no idea this problem is even going on for so many of us..... Any wonder their stock is in the tank?

Same problem, my iPhone 3G won't send from bizmail.yahoo acct. Yahoo personal acct. works fine. I was on the phone with a Yahoo tech for an hour today, he had no idea of the problem. He had a Gen. 2 iPhone, apparently with no update. His personal Yahoo and Biz both worked (send and rcv.) We deleted and re-entered my bizmail acct everyway possible, no luck. I think it's a server issue, since it worked earlier and didn't start until the other day. I could send mail fine until 7/29 or 7/30.

I did read that Yahoo is doing a lot of work on their bizmail servers. Not sure if it's related.

Being a business email, very frustrating.

Bad news. I spoke to customer support this morning and was told that it was a mistake that bizmail had been given access to push and imap folders. Everyone who has this problem should call and complain because it seems that they have cut the access off. Perhaps they'll give the service back if their is enough complaining. It is nonsense that their free yahoo mail is far superior to bizmail.

Even much worse now I decided to bite the bullet and try to setup my Yahoo bizmail account using the "Other" option on the iPhone using the instructions from Yahoo to setup POP3 clients.

When I received my bizmail email account I "attached" it to an existing Yahoo account which was an option at that time. So that my mail application can access both my regular Yahoo email and bizmail simply by switching from the top menu.

So when I got the POP3 instructions page on Yahoo I found that the login it instructed me to use is my original Yahoo address (not my bizmail address) and I followed the instructions to a T and it failed still to connect to the pop server... and then I tried to use my bizmail address and still the same thing! I think I'm a borderline case where pop mail access for bizmail accounts (associated to pre-existing Yahoo accounts) does not work!

What do I do now? Now that they've disabled IMAP (which worked perfectly with my bizmail login) and I'm forced to use POP access - but POP does not work as their instructions tell you to do if you are in my situation.

Now I'm officially peeved. I can't access my bizmail email except through the "Yahoo" option on the iPhone which does not allow sending email and I can only receive!

If anyone else is experiencing this please post your comments here. I'm going to call Yahoos Small Business support this Wednesday to explain this and also point them back here.

So here is the answer I'm betting that Yahoo's support will give me...

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070620180229AAgmrYn

This person had to have their account deleted to "unmerge" their address from their Yahoo Id.

For me that's completely unacceptable since I use the Yahoo mail interface for all of my mail (I don't use offline clients like Outlook right now). If I have to delete my account to do this it's going to be a major inconvenience.

No luck here with 2.0.1 but I did get my POP3 issue resolved. I can at least send and receive now with Bizmail again although it feels crippled compared to the IMAP experience.

In regards to IMAP the CSR at Yahoo I spoke with told me that although IMAP for Bizmail was perhaps not official the reason it stopped working wasn't intentional on Yahoo's part but was because they are moving to the Zimba servers and it may have gotten fudged in the process. As far as he knows they are working to restore that functionality.

I told him that he should post that info back here or to the Yahoo Mail Blog since everyone now is upset but only speculating but he told me that he really couldn't (understandably) but would pass the info along internally to see if they could get something up about the status and what will happen.

It's hard to know if what he said (about them possibly restoring it) is actually the case or not. He was also speculating on it... but at least he may have a little more info than we do.

If anyone would like to make any comments in the meantime I suggest contacting one of the contributors to the Yahoo! Mail Blog. They seem to be the official place for Yahoo! Mail updates and perhaps may have some push with regards to Bizmail IMAP support on iPhone (and any platform for that sake).

The address for the Yahoo! Mail Blog is http://www.ymailblog.com/blog/

The RSS feed is also available here http://feeds.feedburner.com/ymailblog

Jordan,

Thanks for the update. I also am very frustrated with Yahoo bizmail issue. I have since, transferred all of my servers, contacts and e-mail to GMAIL. Although the "push" feature isn't supported with GMail, the "Fetch" option is acceptable in comparison for me. With my business, I need the ability to send e-mails period... The "unable to send e-mail" error is just not acceptable. Instead of switching back and forth, I am going to wait until they get the IMAP working with the regular Yahoo account setup to prevent further issues. Funny thing is I got a survey from yahoo about their customer support. Lets just say it wasn't very favorable.
