The exact same thing happened to me, no idea why and no idea how to get the 2.0 update working, anyone know?

I do however know how to resurrect your iPod, you need to connect to a Mac or PC that does not have the 2.0 update downloaded, once you connect in then restore your ipod via iTunes, it will install the last FREE update and you can use your ipod again. Just don't install the 2.0 update when you connect back onto your own mac. Hope this helps you.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/iphone-and-ipod-touch-get-1-1-4-firmware-upda te/ This is the link. Right under the second picture there is a link for the ipod touch software. Save it to your desktop and when that is complete open Itunes with your ipod plugged in. When it comes up HOLD the shift key and click RESTORE....you will then be able to select the file you saved to your desktop. Please ask any questions and notify if it work or if you run into any problems? Thanks Chris
