I have a small scratch on my new iPhone 3G, accidentally dropped it on the touch screen side when getting out of bed this morning. There is now a slight scratch on the touch screen, noticeable mostly when the touchscreen is off when against light. When the screen is on, if you look closely, you can see the line and the color disfigurement, it is like a little rainbow line. Anyway, to my point, i will be buying an invisibleshield, i am wondering if the scratch will become less visible. Common sense assumes probably not, but i have read that it might, not exactly sure.

bump, anyone buy a screen protector when they had a scratch before? does the scratch "cover up"?
?
Nobody could possibly answer this as all scratches are different.
Alright, here are a couple of pictures that might help. They are just a hair size, but still, i thought my phone was supposed to be "unscratchable"

This is the best one i think, be warned, it is huge.

Ooh nasty. I think that will still be visible.
Its pretty much blown out of proportion in this pic, its highlighted by the flash and well the picture size is huge. But it isn't really as bad as that looks, still though, it is bad. Do you have any idea if putting on the screen protector will make it less noticeable? Also, do you have any idea where i can get something to remove the scratches?
I would try asking down at a local camera store. I'd imagine they get this sort of question about lenses quite often.
Try that screen repair stuff in a red tube. I forget the name. Spend an hour using it and it might fade, then put the cover on it.
I believe you are talking about displex? I'm not sure about that, some people say that it actually just made it worse.
Yeah thats the stuff, I used it on my N95 and seemed to buff away most of the scratch it had. Nothing else I think you can do. Good luck
Is the screen on the 3G still glass like that of the original, or have they switched to plastic? If it's glass, keep in mind that repair kits for plastic (standard) touchscreens may not work too well. I agree with the poster about looking into lense repair at a camera store, but that's a pretty severe scratch. What the heck did it land on?
on hardwood flooring, about a 2 feet fall from my bed. It's just because of the flash + the picture size it seems bad.
Slightly scratched iPhone, what happens with Screen protector?
