Repair /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

The /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib is corrupted. Where can I download one copy?
PowerPC macosx 10.4. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You should be able to find the file on your OS X disks via [Pacifist|www.charlessoft.com], or you could perform an Archive & Install with your OS X installation disk.

That library is also updated as part of Security Update 2008-004. Your post says you're at "10.4", but it's not real specific as to the minor version number (i.e., 10.4.0, 10.4.9).

If you're at 10.4.11 (and especially if you've already done that security update, perhaps via the Software Update menu item), you can download that update and re-apply it. Or use Pacifist to extract it from that update.

Otherwise, as iBod says, you can get it with Pacifist from your install disc. Just make sure you re-apply any updates you had applied before, like OS updates or security updates, so you get a current one for your system.

Finally I extracted libSystem.B.dylib from MacOSX 10.4.1 update with TransMac.
I was lucky, an NFS share was mounted on my MAC from another UNIX machine before the dylib corrupted. I put an symlink to /usr/lib/libSystem.B_debug.dylib on the NFS share from the UNIX box, and set DYLD LIBRARYPATH to the NFS share path in my Mac, so some commands, such as ln, dd, rm, nm, ... started to work. Then I uploaded the 10.4.1 dylib into the NFS share from the UNIX, and copied it into /usr/lib with dd. Done.
