I have a 5G Video iPod. I keep its USB charger cable attached to a hub that is attached to my iMac. Can I use that cable to charge my iPhone, too? Can I also use the iPod wall charger and cable to charge the iPhone? I supposed I can't use the Firewire iPod cable attached to my iMac that came with my 3G iPod? One other question. I have a direct connection for my iPod installed in the stereo systems of both my cars. One has a dock connection cable that comes out directly from the rear of the receiver, the other car has a Belkin Auto Kit that is installed into my Powerport that has a dock connector cable coming from it. Can both of those be used to charge the iPhone. It would be great to be charging the iPhone while streaming radio stations from some of the apps. I don't want to harm the electronics in the iPhone by using something that is not compatible! Thanks for your help
Both me and my wife have iPods and we charge all of them, including my iPhone usin g the same charger either on the mac or on the wall. The only one I can't charge is an older iPod that has a firewire charger.
Yes you can charge either the iPhone and the iPod with the same charger, the only thing is that if you use the iPod charged on the iPhone it will take longer to charge then if you used the iPhone charger.
Great - then perhaps I can get some clarification - I have tried charging on my Gen 4 ipod charger (AC with the firewire adapter) and the iPhone reports that it is unable to charge with this charger. I have tried on the Macally TunePro and it also says this is an unsupported device. Any suggestions here?
Just to clarify one thing... There should be no problems using the iPod connections in my cars to charge and power the iPhone? Thanks to everyone for their help!
