Mac Pro and FireWire external sound cards problems

hello!

I got my Mac Pro for several days, and I'm trying to start my work with music. But I got a problem
and have no idea how to deal with it.

I got two FireWire sound cards - MOTU Traveler and TC Konnekt 24D - all of them working
perfectly under PC. Have downloaded and installed all updates to Mac OS X and latest drivers
for those sound cards. When I'm plugging them to my Mac Pro - they appear normally - i mean
software bundled with drivers indicates that cards are present. But when I'm trying to do some
playback actions through MOTU or TC (i never using them together - only separately) - it seems
like they are out of synch with firewire - they begin to do some weird things. for example
TC Konnekt 24D - indicates that device is out of sync, and MOTU Traveler - just producing some
ultra-high frequency low-volume noise and that's all. Have tested that in several programs,
Logic, Bias Peak and etc. If i will try to turn-off and then turn-on those cards several times -
sometime i got them to function normally. But 90% of the time they do not work correctly.
All the firmware versions in these cards are up to date, also i've used latest driver versions for
both.

I found something strange in my System Profiler, under the FireWire subcategory:

*FireWire Bus:*

Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec

*Built-in Hub:*

Manufacturer: Unknown
Model: Unknown
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec
Connection Speed: Unknown

Vendor 0x1F2 Device 0x107800:

Manufacturer: 0x1F2
Model: 0x107800
GUID: 0x1F2000001966F
Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec
Sub-units:
Unknown Unit:
Unit Software Version: 0x9
Unit Spec ID: 0x1F2

is that normal?
is it possible that my firewire drivers are broken?

I've also tested those cards with regular PC computer - all working excellent at all samplerates,
buffer-sizes and etc.

nope, i always plugging in one FireWire port - just tested one from the front of a Mac Pro,
all the same. I have only external USB devices - keyboard and mouse and USB hub.

errghh, i've bought such expensive stuff with hope to forgot those "PC-like" problems 😟
and now troubles started again :/

also do anyone know - when I'm using Time Machine to transfer account and personal stuff
from another computer - can it also transfer some Kexts and drivers from old system?

i don't know if it is possible that Branded native Intel Mac will show built-in Unknown FireWire
hub devices in System Profiler..
that looks strange for me.

update:

have reinstalled Mac OS X Leopard from scratch. Also I have installed only
audio drivers to clean system - got same results - firewire working bad.
also FireWire bus still have status of unknown device:

Built-in Hub:

Manufacturer: Unknown
Model: Unknown
Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec
Connection Speed: Unknown

it seems that it is Mac OS X firewire driver level problem.
how can i send this to Apple technical support team? I've
searched all of their site and didn't found the way to contact them.

Also tried that setup yesterday with clean Mac OS X installation. no changes.

no, sure I'm not backing up anything at the same time 🙂

May be that's a cause of the problem - fact that i need to turn on device and restart Mac OS X to get
audio interface to work correctly.
Sure - I do not plugged it in firewire port while device is on. MOTU has on/off switch- so you can
turn it off while don't need it and then turn on when you want to work with audio interface.

When I was in windows - that worked that way: i've loaded OS, then I've turned on MOTU, windows
loaded drivers and all the stuff become ready for work. in any time I can switch MOTU off and then
switch on again - and interface will be ready for work again.

But it seems that Mac OS has a limitation for firewire audio interfaces - so you need to turn it on
before OS startup and then do not turn off in any case.

thanks for your response!

i think it's not good to install this SDK - since it's release date is Jan 2008, and OS X version
is 10.5.0. I got 10.5.4 - and i think important updates are already installed.

as for no sound topic - I already know that i need to switch newly connected device in Audio/MIDI
control panel.

for now I'm working fine - just turning on my MOTU Traveler before starting of Leopard.
