Magnets and iPod nano

I have a question about magnets and how they may effect my iPod. The bag I plan to use for an upcoming trip has two pockets on the front with very strong magnets. I planned to put the iPod in a little change wallet and put it in the main compartment that doesn't have magnets. Is this safe? The company that makes the bag said hard drives would be destroyed but flash drives would be fine. They said nano and shuffle were ok. Sorry, but I have no idea which I drive have, though it is a nano. Can anyone advise me if it truly is ok to use this bag with my ipod? I really don't want to destroy it!
