Burnt spot on my iPhone screen

Right below the battery indicator there appears to be a burnt spot. Perhaps a chip got hot? About half the size of a dime. Anyone else had this problem?

Yesterday, took my iPhone out of it's holder that I have on my belt, I getting ready to make a call, when I noticed that it was extremely hot. Too hot to put up to my ear. I noticed a bright spot on the top upper left of the screen. I turned the phone off so that it would cool down. While it was off, I noticed what appeared to be a burn spot a the same position on the screen where the bright spot was.

The phone did not charge over night. So I connected it to my wall charger and it charged up in a matter of minutes. However, it started getting hot again. I guess, I'll take it into the AT&T store here locally.

Any advice would be appreciated. Could this be the battery going or has gone bad?

Thanks,

Reggie

My wife's iphone did pretty much the same thing, except we don't recall it getting brighter at any specific point on the screen. But anyway, we noticed it needed charging and as we plugged it in it felt warm, then after that in a matter of minutes it got extremely hot. Now its dead, but we called support and because we are still within our 1 year period, they are going to replace it. So there may be some hope for you yet

I performed a backup and restore on my phone, however, the burn spot is still there. I haven't noticed it get hot like it did before, but only time will tell.

I still don't like the fact that there's a burn spot on my phone. There just should not be anything like this on a phone that I paid such a premium price for.

It's still under warranty, so I'll call AppleCare to find how to get this fixed or replace.
