Apple Mobile Device Helper

I just upgraded to iTunes 7.7 and now whenever I open iTunes i always get a message telling me that Apple Mobile Device Helper has stopped working. Every time I close the device helper a couple seconds later the same message appears. Even if I leave it alone more of the same messages appear. Is anyone else having these problems?

Yes, there are plenty of other topics on the subject.

If you don't have an iPhone or iTouch you can just delete that program from your PC. But iPhones and iTouch models need it.

I had the same problem which drove me nuts until using msconfig i removed supportsoft from the startup list and hey presto no more popups without having to start as administrator each time or delete files.
My life is once again peaceful.

What a complete waste of time, why can't Apple just sort it out. All my lectures are online and and available to download to my iPod but now thanks to my clicking yes to upgrade, because for some random reason I can't see anything on my iPod in cover flow, I cannot actually now use my iPod, or iTunes for that matter.
