Where is "Set time automatically"?

Don't remember that option.

Go to Settings-> General-> Date and Time (it's near the bottom)-> Set automatically

Mine does not have that, I have a screen shot but cannot add it to this post.

It's a question of your network carrier supporting this feature. If it does not, you won't see the option.

I used to have this option too on my original iPhone. I'm a UK user on O2, and I used to be able to set my date and time automatically.

Since upgrading to the 2.0 software, and also getting an iPhone 3G (obviously with 2.0), this feature has miraculously disappeared.

I know that O2 (the network) support this feature, so it's not down to them disabling it. This seems like a UK-specific software bug in 2.0.

I'll add that to my ever-growing list of bugs in 2.0 🙂

I live in UK but am visiting NYC. The phone kept defaulting back to UK time so I tried to find the automatic time set feature but it wasn't there. I went to the Apple store and the staff were bamboozled. Their phones had the feature but mine didn't. (As always) they suggested a full reset which I went back to my hotel room and did (had my macbook with me) but no change. Why no 'automatically update time' feature on UK phones?

It's at Settings->General->Date & Time. However, I don't think that O2 provides time setting on their network.

It is only there if your carrier supports Automatic Time updates for the iPhone.

O2 in the UK does not, and the option is not available, nor did they with the original iPhone. With the original iPhone the option was there, but could not be turned on.

O2 in the UK DOES support automatic time setting. My 2G iPhone on O2 still on 1.4 of the software has automatic time setting. My 2G phone on v2.0 does not have it and neither does my 3g on 2.0.1

When I have roamed (and I roam around the world extensively including the USA) I am not getting the option. There is a BUG of some description on O2 locked phones.

I am having the same problem with iPhone 1st generation using 2.1 (5F136), no automatic setting of time in UK with O2 (PAYG).

Really really frustrating.

Even if Apple gave us the option to sync the time via the Internet using NTP like the Mac, or even when connected to iTunes.

My phone updated automatically on O2 under 2.1, but whilst trying to fix the mail app crash problem that seems to have affected a fair number of 2.1 users I did a complete reset and restore using a restore file for 2.1 downloaded from the internet and now the automatic update of time has stopped. I'm not all that fussed (as long as I've managed to fix the email problem) but I'd like to know why the feature has stopped working!

I have 2 iPhones - one US and one UK with the same software (2.2.1). The UK one doesn't offer the automatic update and the US does. This must surely be an O2 issue but with the same software, I don't understand how the problem arises

I agree - not having this feature on O2 iPhones is very annoying. I am used to this from my French iPhone and travel to different time zones every week.
