when I connect my iphone in itunes and check for updates, it says my iphone and itunes are both up to date. this has happened twice and on 2 different computers. why can't i get the 2.0 software? shouldn't at least itunes update itself???

Hi, that's strange indeed. For me it worked and itunes (7.7) proposed to me to upgrade to 2.0 for my original iphone. However, i downloaded the firmware 2.0 once on a PC and when i wanted to install it for the iphone, itunes (7.7) simply crash ! I tried on a second PC and i got the same problem ! Thus, i cannot upgrade from 1.1.4 to 2.0 unfortunatly !
Can someone help us pls ?
Thanks

First, click on the locator in Google Maps to see if, in fact, you ARE in Oz. Strangely, a lot of British users are doing this and are being shown they are in Kansas. Coincidence? I think not. ;o)

If this continues, you can do a MANUAL update. Go to the Apple site and look for the downloads section. Find the software update and download it to your desktop (or wherever). Then in iTunes, hold down the Command key (I think it's the shift key on a PC) while you press the Restore button, and you will get prompted to choose the file you want to use to restore. Choose the file you downloaded.

That should do it.

You need to update iTunes to 7.7 first. Just run iTunes and ask it to find an update; it should.

Then connect the iPhone with iTunes running. You'll get a "Check for new Software" window. Click on it. If it says you have the latest, try again, since it took me 3-5 tries to get it to say that the new version is available.

Just persevere.
