There is clearly a big big problem with we that upgraded to iTunes 7.7.
Upgrade to 7.7 , Library dissappears.

I came to Support today, in hopes of finding out what may have happened to my Library, which I keep on an External HD.
First checking support , I found NOTHING. As usual.

When I came over here to check Discussions , well, what a trainwreck.

Apart from fixing the danged application, I ask, plead, beseech you kind people at Apple Support:

Please create an up-to-date list of fixes.

There are so many threads, so many things to try -to varying degrees of success- that I am paralyzed with doubt and confusion.
Which of these zillion fixes should I try?

I am NOT a left-brainer so I am useless at deciding what I should do. Further , I am only slightly confident that I am doing the right things:

-did I drag and drop the right file?
-What's an xml file ?
- is this what "open from applications" really means?
- what exactly does "library" is "in" "iTunes" mean and how do I know I am in the right place?

Please create a comprehensive list , culled from all of these unhappy 7.7 Upgradees.
Help me know what are the latest and bestest way to find "my iTunes" (whatever that means.
Make it step-by-step so a non-linear thinker can follow it, without fear of fcuking up everything even more.

I know that I have great limitationsin my understanding; I'm not ashamed to say so in public.
There's no way that i am the only Mac owner in all the land that is similarly handicapped.
I like to think I speak for us all.

I think you misunderstand this forum. Apple Tech Support has essentially no presence here. It's a user-to-user forum. It's possible that one of your fellow users may take it upon themselves to summarize things but, then again, they may be too busy answering questions.

You also have to keep in mind that people come here with problems so, it sometimes seems as if everyone in the world is having a problem. But, the people who aren't having problems, aren't posting here.

So, you're going to have to do some of the work yourself to solve your problem. You might start by posting exactly what happened, what your seeing and what error messages your getting. If you've already done that in another thread, that's great.
