Crazy Ipod Help

Hello all,

i have an ipod mini this morning i went walking, about an hour into my walk. it started to play one song then skip to another, i thought this was strange. then it died on me. i held the menu and center button and it restarted but isn't allowing me to choose songs or anything of the sort. it just stays on the main selection page.

So i restored it twice. and now it is coming on but i cant control it. but it is controlling itself, it is playing songs for about 20 seconds then skipping to another...and if i listen to how it is operating i hear it is constantly clicking through all the options..

is there another way to reset my ipod...help me please i am going crazy with this atm.
