Hi sampleconstruct,

so,do you mean if i'm in the case as,i'm now using the LP7 and i load the LP8 installer for the upgrade, then i might need the dongle to access it?

If i install the Logic Studio (without the old version LP7 in my machine) then,i don't need the dongle anymore (which is the dongle from LP7 and Logic Studio doesn't provide dongle anyway) isn't it?

how s'ld i confirm or test whether i need the dongle for my LP8 or not? just open a project and simply put something in and hit Save Project...if the Project can be save and open again...mean,dongle unneccessory?am i right?

sorry again for the fool question...haaa...thanks and appreciate to your reply!!!

Ray, no it is not whether you have 7 installed or not. It depends which Logic 8 product you buy, upgrade or full version. For the full version you of course don´t need the XSKey during installation and for the upgrade you need you XSKey in the beginning of the installation process. Logic 8 only use a serial number for software protection which is a good strategy when the company owns both the software and hardware. For example, it is easy for the kids to get hold of a copy of Logic Studio on the internet "for free" and then they say to their dad. Hi daddy, I need you to buy a Mac for me because I would like to use this great software I just downloaded. And after that it is a good chance they will hold on to macs for the rest of their life which is good buissnes for Apple, despite they gave away the software for free in the first place.

Hi Firechild,

thanks for the explaination ... wonderful!!!haaa...
I bought the upgrade version from LP7.and yes, i do use the XSkey for the first installation of the Logic Studio upgrade version.

Regarding what you've mention, then, i don't need the XSkey anymore from now on when open the LP8?! am i right? haaaa....

And, i also installed the Logic Studio on my MacBook...surprised me that day when i launch the LP8 and it doesn't ask for XSkey...so that, i've decide to confirm with the forumers whether it is TRUE, the LP8 NO need xskey anymore?!

Seems, your conclusion is, no matter Full Version or Upgrade Version...and Yes, Do Not Need the XSkey for LP8!!!! am i right?
