WiFi overseas with Airplane mode turned ON

Hello, I'm a bit concerned about my iPhone. I just recently upgraded to 2.0, currently I am in Germany on vacation and have my phone on Airplane mode so i can access my iPod and such. NOW here is the big question, I have been using my phone's WiFI so i can access the internet and 3rd party apps, WHILE KEEPING ON MY AIRPLANE MODE AT ALL TIMES, will AT&T charge me anything for this, if it was only over wifi? Why would they if it was over free wifi and GSM signals are turned off over airplane mode?

at&t will not charge you for data access when connected via wi-fi.

There is no way for at&t to do so unless you are roaming internationally and accessing the internet via a cellular network with your iPhone. With Airplane mode enabled and wi-fi access on, all iPhone radios are off - cell, cellular data, and bluetooth except for wi-fi access, which has nothing to do with at&t.

Be real careful here. I took my iPhone on a cruise. It stayed in the safe in the room. I had also set it to no roaming. I got my bill for $389 from AT&T. I called and got the charges removed, but what was happening is that whenever we came to port it was checking if I had any messages on the network. I hope that this feature has been removed from new releases by now. BTW - I was using the original software at that time.
