After having 2.0 firmware for about a week this problem arose. The iPod can no longer locate me in any compatible location apps (ie. Maps, Twinkle, Weather Bug, AOL Radio, Nearby, and Google Mobile). I have a another iPod Touch that works fine though with these apps and the Location Services. So I know that it isn't my network's connection or Skyhook. I've also looked around and saw this was an issue with several other touches. I have also restored the Touch several times (once in DFU mode) with no success. Is there a fix for this issue or am I going to have to bring my iPod to the Genius Bar?
Same problem here. I ran 2.0 for about a week just fine, and then no location services. I resubmitted my router's MAC address to Skyhook's page (it had been able to find me ever since I bought an iPod touch in January). I even went to the Genius bar and had it replaced. This one can't find me either. I have a gentleman from AppleCare working on this, but so far we've not been able to figure it out.
I figured out what my issue was. It seems that the problems started after I bought and installed "Band." After restoring my software YET again but keeping it from installing any apps, I now have my location working again, and an even better and narrower range of my location. Now, to see if I can get credit for the app.
This has been a problem for me ever since i upgraded to 2.0, I then recently upgraded to 2.0.1 and this problem is still valid i never added my location to the skyhook server when i first bought my ipod touch but since i updated i added it and it still did not fix.
I am having the same problem. I have even removed the 2.0.1 update from the iTunes folder in Application support so it would downoad a fresh copy. I deleted all my apps so I could download them again. Still now go. It had been working until my apps start crashing on launch. I fixed that problem but the location service is just not working. Unless I can find a fix for it I am going to make use of Applecare and have Apple fix it for me.
