The only apps for the phone are in the AppStore. Right now the only one I know of is AIM from AOL. Now if MS writes one (I doubt it) for the iPhone then it will be available in the AppStore once done.

Otherwise, have to wait for another developer to make on that taps into Messenger. I heard Trillian was working on one and I am sure many others.

In the meantime, there are a variety of webapps that work nice. Meebo and Beejive are two popular ones (remember, webapps not applications to install).

Hi Slifer

Yes, I'm using the browse version of Windows Live Messenger on my iPhone 3G.

You can try on the www.MessengerGoneMobile.com:
1. Select your operator from the drop down list (after clicking download)
2. Select "Other" for Phone Make field
3. Select "Other" for Phone Model

Then you put your phone number and you'll get a text message with a link. Click Messenger on the MSN Mobile site to use Messenger.

If you're not in the UK just go to "uk.msn.com" or to "www.msn.com" and try the link there.

It really ***** that you can't download the Messenger application but that's because Apple doesn't want to compete with the SMS revenues of operators....... But that's really annoying because you can now get it on all BlackBerrys and Windows Mobile phones.......

No they don't. They already let AOL Instant Messenger on (AIM). They made the platform, up to company who owns the IM or your choice to make a program to work on the platform. It is more likely Microsoft doesn't want to make software for an Apple product.

You have got to be kidding, right? Who in their right mind put microsoooft rubbish on an iPhone.

I don't like Microsoft at all. My main desktop is Linux, and my laptop is a MacBook. However, I don't deny the fact that a lot of people have no choice but to use Microsoft products, including those who need to use their messenger service for one reason or another. You'll have to be pragmatic at one point. 🙂
