Remove iTunes Pending Downloads

Sorry, but once they're in the download queue, you can't remove them yourself. Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form linked from the bottom of their Download FAQ web page and explain the problem to them. They may be willing to remove the items from your queue for you.

Thanks, that's a good explaination. But a bad solution on Apple's part.

Does anyone have an explaination as to WHY we don't have this functionality? I've got 47 pending downloads that I cannot seem to get rid of. All I can do is pause it. Then they resume downloading the next time I open iTunes. It's ******* me off.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I found a solution to this and thought I would share it...

If you want to delete pending downloads directly from your ihone (without connecting it to your PC/Mac) then this can be done. Access your pending downloads list, and then give a short Right to Left swipe on the item you want to delete (note this is a right to left swipe, i.e. the opposite way to unlocking etc). A red Delete button should appear, tap this and the download gets deleted from the pending list. Unfortunately this can only be done one item at a time, but still it is a way to cancel the download.

I am not sure which software update this came on (or whether its an 'undocumented feature' that's been there from the beginning), but it works for me now on 2.2 on iPhone 3G.

Okay but you are still charged for that purchase, as the charge is applied BEFORE the download starts.

Also, doesn't the download show up as pending when you log into iTunes on your computer? It should.

I see what you mean, and I'm not sure how this affects purchases - presumably you can download the same thing again but not get charged for it the second time round...? not sure though.

Anyway, there are plenty of free podcasts etc out there, and I found this solution when a friend of mine queued up 45 downloads of a free 'how to learn spanish' podcast series, saw the first one and decided it wasn't what he wanted, and then couldn't work out how to get rid of them without downloading them all or connecting to his computer.

Perhaps my post would apply to those people who want to cancel downloads of free items (e.g. podcasts) more than purchased downloads.

I have 35 items queued in line and I want to download them but I can't. I always get an error message saying iTunes store is unavailable. This is ridiculous. It's been going on for months and months. Any time I try to preorder an album or get a TV show pass they just stack up in the queue and I can never download them.

Probably because DLs would get deleted, users would still be charged yet not have the music/videos, and it would be Apple's "fault".
