iPhone will not turn off.

Question

iPhone will not turn off.

When I hold the Hold button and slide to turn off, my iPhone will restart itself.

Is this how it's suppose to work?

I'm leaning towards not because my iPod touch will turn off.

Keep the hold button pressed, and press the lock button on the top right corner for few seconds, you should see a RED slider asking to be slided for shutdown

That is what I do, but it restarts every time without fail.

Once you HOLD + Click button and slide the RED slider, You should see a progress circle, release the top (lock) button and the home button.

The screen should go blank. that's it

When you want to start it later, clicking the top (lock) button should start it

Once the slider apears let go of the other buttons and just push the sldier otherwise you will just reboot.....

@steve copeland: tried that too.

I placed the iPhone on a flat surface (my desk) and held the Hold button. Whilst avoiding the temptation to grope my iPhone, I gently slid my index finger across the slider. The spiral appeared and it shut down... for about 2 seconds then the screen flashed and the Apple logo appeared. BAM!

Try a hard reboot, keep the home and hold pressed when you run the slider across and keep them pressed until the apple logo appears again. the try a shutdown.

Tried. Still failed.

I call Apple tomorrow and see what they reckon.
