3G Metal Frame loose

I was watching a TV show in my iPhone when I realized that the metal frame that goes around the phone is actually a bit loose on the left side of the phone (when held properly) and it lets light through it.

I'm still within the 30 days at AT&T, what's my best course of action?

I just looked at my iPhone 3G 16 GB (Black) and noticed the same visible spacing in the upper left side of the display. This may explain why the other day my silent/ring switch popped off the metal cap. It appears to be a manufacturing defect. I'm taking it back to Wireless Wave (authorized Rogers dealer) where I purchased it to see if they can swap it for another iPhone 3G 16 GB since I'm still with in the 30 day return policy.

I had the same problem. I went to the local Apple store to exchange my phone, which the fella at the genius bar was willing to do, no questions asked. He DID state that he had exchanged 3 - 4 units for the same issue. And the replacements exhibited the same issue.

He gave me the option to go ahead and swap and I did. Sure enough, the replacement has the light defect, albeit not as bad as the one I turned in. Unfortunately, you can't just keep opening boxes until I could find one that I like. I guess I'll call Apple Care and have them make a note of this.
