Did you recently cancel a subscription to AOL? I did and all of a sudden I get the same error message you're getting when trying to redeem gift certificate money sitting in my account.

I have been advised to switch to an AppleID, which I did, but still cannot access the money. Of course, I can now pay for it but I can't redeem the money sitting in the old AOL ID account. If you recently opted out of AOL, I'd try switching to an Apple ID, as that solved part of my problem and I can now purchase music, but didn't solve the problem of my gift certificate money being inaccessible to me... Hope this helps.

You're so kind, but I've already been emailing Itunes support for the past 2 weeks and have only been told that my gift certificate can't be transferred (from me to me, i might add)... I've also been told that my account has been "manually converted" from an aol id to an apple id -- so i thought the problem was solved. turns out that my id has been transferred, and the gift certificate amount is showing up in my account, but i still get a 11503 error when i try to purchase music. any other suggestions??

tried. didn't work. still get 11503 error and couldn't download free song. any idea how to get a response from itunes regarding this matter? it's been going on for nearly a month and my money is tantalizingly showing up in my account and not being able to access it is exceedingly frustrating. i know it's not a cookies or date/time setting issue since i successfully set up a regular apple id linked to my credit card and have purchased music. it seems to me that itunes ought to be a bit more responsive to its customers who have issues like mine. just a gentle suggestion, of course. thanks, as always, for your attempts to help. i still have not received a response from itunes engineering and was told that would happen earlier in the week. is there any recourse for customers like me??? amy r.

You're welcome, sorry none of this works. Seems like the switch over from AOL to and apple ID isn't complete, somehow.

But that is odd it won't let you get even the free song - it is not even supposed to be looking at your gift credits, according to their article of the order in how things are redeemed.

If you reply to the canned auto-response do you get anything better?

Good luck!

all i've gotten is that my issue has been "escalated to itunes engineering" and i was supposed to have received a response by now. yes, strange, that i can't even download the free song based on the info. you sent. also weird that i could freely purchase music as long as i was using a credit card and my previous apple id. oh well. it's just so frustrating to not be able to deal with a human being and to have to wait for 72 hours to get anywhere...

again, i really appreciate your time and expertise. amy r.
