.m4v won't play on iPhone!?

Hi, I just used Quicktime Pro to encode a video. I did it using the Apple TV settings, thinking that this would then be able to be played on the iPhone as well, but when syncing in iTunes it won't go on the iPhone as it is incompatible!

Is this really true? Will I have to reencode it again!?

iMac 20", Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Yes, you'll have to reencode it. Apple TV is NOT iPhone. You can reencode it in iPhone. Advanced>Convert selection for iPHone.
