scrolling large UIView

Hi,
I have a large UIview with a number large number of subviews added to it. It is the content to an enclosing uiscrollview. Everything works fine in the simulator(panning and zooming), but the limits on the device seem to be around 1450x1450. After that size, scrolling becomes very glitchy and all subviews ghost across the screen.

I guess I'm hitting some kind of memory limit here. What kind of strategies are used for tiling content like this?

Hi,

I've got the same problem - I can create a UIView approx 3x the screen size before things stop working. The larger view size also seems to affect the speed with which I can redraw the view. Did you ever get to the bottom of this?

Found the solution - add the following to your subclassed UIView

+(Class)layerClass
{
return [CATiledLayer class];
}

The view can then be as large as you like and the system redraws on demand.

Do you have any more detail here? I have a content view that is large and has numerous subviews in it, along with some custom drawing. The custom drawing was done in the drawRect method. Does the introduction of the layers change this at all?

hi,, i have an uiview controller in which i added a subView and this uiview controller responds to the event of touching the screen, i draw the subview with the drawRect method and then add it to the view controller as an object,, does any one know how can i redraw my subView when the uiview controller reaches the touchEnd????
