Q: How do I remove Avast?
Anyone with knowledge of "Avast anti-virus Mac edition"? I downloaded it here so assumed it was OK. It has proved to be not what I want and it makes Mail open up. Why does it do that? I don't know, ask them.
It does not appear in my profile start up items but that idiotic software starts, and starts mail on a boot.
I tried using finder to move it from Applications into the trash, but it tells me it can't do that because it is open. It has no "X" to close it. I tried force quitting, but it opens again (and reopens mail if I closed it).
How do I kill it?
BTW, Avoid Avast at all costs.

Looks like the anti-malware program has become the malware...
Take a look here in Avast's own forum

Recommend you not run any anti-malware program in the background. If you want something to run periodically to check for malware, try
