Here is something different... Just got of the phone with a 2nd tier apple support tech, I was calling regarding a bluetooth /Chrysler Uconnect issue and He asked me if I'm having 3G reception issues? I replied yes, I am, and he said that ATT has a estimated Fix date of Aug 8th in My area!!! (I'm in Los Angeles 818 area) Anyone else got any replies like this?

It's baaaccckkkk!!!

Lost control this morning and went to the Apple store and signed up again for "the" phone. Briefly, I got one on launch day, restored, reset, and exchanged. Finally, returned the second one as the reception was no better. I could not even get an EDGE signal at home, in a "very good" 3g coverage area in Akron/Cleveland area.

The phone I got today, is great. It is the same model number as the one I had at launch (MB048LL). I don't know the week but I am assuming it is an earlier one. BUT it does have the new SIM card in it.

So, I don't know why but I am now getting -85 (which still isn't really strong) signal on EDGE in the house but 3g is still iffy at home. I can live with that because I get great 3g out and about and can use WI-FI at home, if needed. I am hoping that the 3g increases over time with some fixes, tweaks or acts of god....

Happy at Home.

I live in Phoenix area and just went from a Palm Treo 3G on AT&T to the iPhone. My wife has the Treo and side by side comparisions of the signal show the iPhone is not even close to the Treo. Most of the time the iPhone has no service while the Treo has 3-5 bars.

Change the sim card no effect Apple wants to replace the phone but says they have not had any issues reported with poor service. Guess they don't read their own boards. Anyway this is my first Apple experience and with all dur respect to those Apple die hards I am a little disappointed. The feature on the phone are great but if you can make or receive calls it is just an expensive iPod.

I will give them one more chanc with a new phone and then it is back to the Treo.

Having read a lot of the posting here and on other tredd and it is kind of hard to blame these issues on AT&T. Not that I like them, but while there maybe 1 million iPhones sold, there are many more millions on AT&T's network that seem to have good reception.

I have a question regarding the reception that I find puzzling with respect to my iPhone. I run mine in edge because of the poor reception in 3G, its ok because most of that time I'm by my work or home wifi and get good signal. The minute I try to turn on 3G along with WIFI the phone immediately goes to No Service. I should add that I have 2 bars MAX when I do have reception. I dont know if that makes this problem unique or the same as everyone else with just the wifi being added into the mix.
