How change background color on mail notes?

How change background color on mail notes?

When I create and then later double click on a mail note, it displays words at the top that indicate I can select Colors. When I click on it, the color "template" comes up, but it doesn't do anything. How do I use this option to select color--specifically background color?

intel imac, Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If the Color palette appears, then you can select a color from it and click (maybe double-click on the chosen color and that should change the Note for you. Alternately, you may be able to click and drag the color to the Note to change the color.

Hi, this is what I remember is how it used to work when I first got Leopard. However, neither of these things work for me now. Any other ideas?

Well, your profile says you're running 10.4.7, so that's definitely not Leopard; you should update that, since it does make a difference when trying to troubleshoot problems. This is the way it should work, so if it doesn't, I have no idea why, since I'm not running 10.5 myself.

I would presume this would also be in the Help file, so if Apple changed it between versions, the correct procedure should also be noted there.

THANKS, never thought about updating my profile. I'm guessing that 10.4.7 must have been what I had when I bought the imac. I knew it was Tiger. Did Tiger have Notes and To Do's in email? Since you have Leopard, can you change the color background on a note? I couldn't find anything in Mail Help about changing colors in a Note, but I looked. I would think it could be done since Apple put Colors icon at top of Note, but I can't figure out exactly how it takes affect, or if it a current bug.

I'm not using Leopard and have no plan to upgrade; my viewpoint is that it has too many issues that are unresolved and it would simply break too many things on my system for which there is no replacement.

I'm sure you can change the colors on a Note, but without having the opportunity to see it, I can't tell you exactly how. I would think it's very simple, too.

I still can't change the background color on a note, but did find a solution that works for me. I type the entries in the Mail Note, then I copy what I have typed and paste it into a Sticky (where I can select a color for the Sticky). I then click on command, shift, 4 and take a picture of my Sticky, insert 4x6 cards in my printer, and print the Preview of the picture from my desk top, so that I can get opportunity to select print from alternate paper drawer. WALA, notes printed on colored paper.
