No Canon MF3110 printer driver...

I just bought a macbook pro and I used a Canon MF3110 printer with my XP box and it had drivers. But it doesn't have drivers for OS X...are there any other options ie open drivers? I tried one called gutenprint but it wasn't compatible. The print is a multifunction and its called Canon imageclass MF3110. Thanks

Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Most peripherals don't need drivers to install to OSX, which, for the most part is plug n play. This actually is one of the big advantages of OSX over Windows. I connect to several printers and digital cameras none of which required me to install drivers to work with my MBP, while my wife has to install drivers to use them with her Windows machines.

Had the same problem with other printers (HP Laserjet 1022), the solution was the Gutenprint CUPS (which loads unsupported printer drivers from Apple) from this page:
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
I did a quick search through the supported printers and didn't find yours. Perhaps in a newer beta release or something you could find the drivers, hope this helps.

Canon's older laser mfps do not support Mac printing; hopefully the Gutenberg drivers helped. If not, and you need to replace, the newer models will work. Look for the MF4000 series (MF4150, 4270, et al) which is about the same size as your 3110, or for heavy duty office use, the larger MF6500 series. The current models won't scan to a Mac, but it's lo res anyway. The newer ones that were just announced may.
