Apple TV and Netgear ReadyNAS Duo

Does anybody have any experience with an Apple TV getting the media from a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo? Specifically, there is a service called iTunes streaming server, which will allow an iTunes client to stream media from the ReadyNAS, without having to have iTunes running on a Mac/PC. Will this work with the Apple TV?

Also, will this work with photos as well, e.g., by keeping the iPhoto library on the ReadyNAS? Will Apple TV be able to access these?

I have a ReadyNAS today and a Netgear EVA8000 HD (which I am not happy with), and consdering to replace the EVA with an Apple TV. I have not been able to find an answer to these questions in other other forums.

Thanks!

Thanks both for your reply an comments. But isn't there a difference between just holding the iTunes library and actually acting as an iTunes server? When I turn on this service, the "NAS iTunes server" appear under "Shared" in iTunes. When I configure the iTunes (Firefly) server, I can point to a folder where I keep my media files. This has nothing to do with the NAS also holding my iTunes library.

Sorry if I am out in the blue here...

it's still not the same as an actual itunes library on a mac or PC. you can't pair an appletv to it, ie by entering the numeric code to pair it as it doesn't really exist as a "real" itunes library.

Thanks, I see the difference(s). I just found a post in another forum indicating that this service could be used by people on a network using iTunes to listen to music in a folder on the NAS, and is emulating the "Sharing" feature in iTunes.

Thanks folks! I guess this "pairing" is a feature that could be suggested to the Netgear people...
