There is a bluetooth config menu in your Lexus - both the incoming and outgoing audio can be adjusted.

Get in your car with the engine off, the doors closed and the windows rolled up and turn the electrics on, then...
1. make sure you are on the nav screen
2. turn the headlights control to off and WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE INFO BUTTON
3. turn the parking lights on (one click up from headlight off)
4. turn the headlights control to off
5. turn the parking lights on (one click up from headlight off)
6. turn the headlights control to off
7. turn the parking lights on (one click up from headlight off)
8. turn the headlights control to off

That gets you into the config menu - pick the bluetooth option and play away.
Hold down DISPLAY for 5 secs to exit the menu when you are done

While you are in the config menu you are not connected, so each time you change a setting you will have to exit to make a test call.

Default setting is 00, I found that my connection issues went away on 03, but I have also had 2 iPhones and each one worked better on a different setting...

Hope that helps...

I have a Lexus IS250 and also have problems with bluetooth. While I am on a call people complain they have trouble hearing me. Some complain that they hear "every other word" as another poster has described. This virtually makes the iPhone useless for making or receiving in-car calls. I hope there is a fix coming for this as I see this as critical to my iPhone use....at the moment I use my old phone while in the car and switch to the iPhone while out of it....a pain that i will put up with until the firt software bug fix...if it is not fixed I will look at alternative devices over the iPhone.

I have the exact same problem. I had the original iPhone and had intermittent bluetooth problems, specifically real bad buzzing on the receiving end. Lexus replaced the bluetooth antenna about 3 months ago and there was some improvement in call quality.

With the 3G that I just bought, I get dropped words on 90+% of my calls and it's to the point where I may not use bluetooth in the car any more. I've gone through all the old fixes and they haven't seemed to help. The bluetooth antenna is located in the panel containing the sunglass holder... yesterday I clipped my phone to the visor while it was stowed and I didn't receive any complaints... however, that was just one phone call.

I experienced a lousy bluetooth connection with the old iPhone and the apple bluetooth headset. As some reviewers describe, it only worked if you held the phone within 1-2 feet of the headset. I'm wondering if the bluetooth issue is a weakness in the iPhone.

I have Lexus ES350 and same problem with an IPhone 3G I just purchased. However, the problem likely is with Lexus, and not Apple. I had similar issues and other problems with my Lexus 300 when pairing a Treo 700P. It seems that the Lexus bluetooth connection is having problems with the more sophisticated phones. So, I likely will go back to using a little Samsung phone for pairing (I will set the IPhone to call forwarding when in the car). I did this with the Treo. A pain, but it works. At least I have all my portable data on the IPhone for reference.

I have the same problem with my RX 350. I hear them fine but they often complain of hearing a "buzzing" noise. I had this problem with my BlackBerry Curve, original iPhone and now with the iPhone 3G. I think it may be the Lexus bluetooth. Anyone know how to go about trouble shooting this? Are there updates available. Has anyone called the Lexus service department? Thanks.

That sounds hopeful! I just downloaded the new software so will try it and cross my fingers. I also have a new RX350 and the bluetooth worked great with my Razr until I got a new iPhone and now I too am having the problem where no one can hear me talk, or can only hear every other word. Last time I was at Lexus, I mentioned it to the service guy and next to me was another customer who I overheard complaining about the exact same thing. I hope there is a fix for it, 'cause it is really annoying.

I have a 2007 IS350 and it has the same issue. I was also told by Apple that they have a known issue with playing visual voice mail in the phone via the bluetooth. It does not work. It maybe a future fix in the iphone and it may also require an update to the lexus? I find it to a problem with the iPhone. My Motorola and Blackberries were excellent in terms of bluetooth.
