iPhone 3G & iPod Universal Dock (Model AA1153)

Hello all,

I am unable to find any information that states whether or not the iPhone 3G is compatible with iPod Universal Dock (Model # AA1153). I know they have a new(er) version out that has a different Infrared lens on the front, but mine is about a year old and has a round lens.

I'm hesitant to plug it in since it is unknown whether or not the dock is compatible or not. Any assistance is greatly appreciated 🙂

PS: Also, can you charge the iPhone 3G w/ firewire? I have a few spare iPod firewire power bricks and dock cables..

With the universal adaptor pack, the dock should work with your iPhone (I've read other inserts will work as well if you have a bunch). However, you cannot charge the new iPhone via Firewire, only USB. They removed that support with the 3G iPhone.

The old iPod Universal Dock is compatible.

The iPhone 3G cannot be charged by firewire.

Here's why I ask... When I popped my iPhone on the dock, it said that was not compatible with this accessory..

It will still charge it, but some of the features may not work, like audio out and the infrared remote.
