Unable To Close ITunes

Hi all,

I'm using ITunes 4.8 (came with my IPod). It worked great for a long time--I have over 23000 tunes now--but now when I import a CD the import speed comes up at about 1.2x, then the CD ROM drive stops spinning. The program freezes, and when I go into the task manager to end the program it won't end--the itunes.exe stays in the process manager.

Any way to rectify either the import issue or the closing issue?

I apologize in advance if this info is somewhere else on these discussion boards, I'm pretty new.

Thanks,

to take care of the closing issue, you can easily go to the processes tab in the task manager and end the iTunes.exe process. This should immediately stop iTunes and close it. As for the import problem, you can try to set up a second user account on you computer and import the music on that account and then add the songs to the primary account. The reason i say this is because you have so many songs, that iTunes may just be over loaded and with the addition of trying to import it just freezes.

assuming you are an administrator on the computer, setting up a new account is relatively easy. All you have to do it open control panel (Start > Control Panel) and double click on the User Accounts icon. There will be an option to create an account. Select that and follow the instructions. (I'm not sure, but you may want to give the account admin rights)
