Games- Star Wars Battlefront Mac

I have a new 2.4 GHZ Macbook and I wondered if it would be able to play Star Wars Battlefront? If so does the game lag? Also, how high could I turn the graphics settings while still having fluent movement? Thanks

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.4), White, 2.4 ghz, 2 gb, 160 gb

I have a 2.16 GHz MacBook and it isn't the best with high graphic games... I would say "no" It may not play STBF because of the graphics. If you want to play games with high graphics I would suggest a MacBook Pro, iMac (upgraded) or a Mac Pro.

The MacBook is best used as a "student" computer for unprofessional stuff. Editing photos, making movies, etc.

Which version are you talking about, the older one that was written for the older discontinued PPC Macs, or the newer Battlefront II for Intel/Windows PC? Can you post a web-link to specific version of the game you are talking about?

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a free demo of those games where you could try it out, but you might be able to look at the system requirements and look around for some other game demo that has similar system requirements to test out the capabilities of the MacBook in general.

You might be able to run older PPC games that require 1GHz G4 and up to 64MB VRAM, since the MacBook 2GHz Intel CPU is fast enough to run the PPC code under Rosetta emulation about as fast as the native PPC machine. Not sure how demanding the grahpics would be of the shared-memory GMA video on the MacBook.

For example, there are some older Star Wars demos you could try out...
Lego Star Wars, Jedi Academy

Well, when you get it and try it out, post back here how well it works, that looks like a neat game. Try some of those demos out too, you can find more here:

The newer Windows version Battlefront II game might run on a MacBook Pro under Windows via BootCamp, Parallels, or VMware Fusion, but I doubt it would run very well, if at all, on the MacBook.
