Has anyone had this problem and found a resolve? Since updating to ITUNES 7.7 I have been unable to exit ITUNES except via ctr-alt-del, Task Manager, End Task. Pressing the “ X” button or going to Files- Exit freezes all controls, though the cursor continues to move normally. 1) I did a clean uninstall through Control Panel of ITUNES and also QuickTime then reinstalled from a fresh download of 7.7 – same problem continued. 2) I did a Windows Repair of ITUNES through Control Panel – problem continued. 3) I ran the ITUNES diagnosis option on ITUNES – no problem found but this problem continued. 4) I reinstalled on top of 7.7 – problem continues. 5) I submitted a bug report but to Support but no answer from Apple. Thank you for any constructive potential solutions.
I am having the same issue. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I am running Windows XP, so it is not just an issue with Vista. I have also noticed another user posted they are experiencing this as well on another thread here in the forum. I can only control-alt-delete my way out of iTunes.
If you don't have an iPhone or iTouch, try deleting AppleMobileDevice Helper from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Those are XP directions - it would be similar for Vista.
It worked for me, no more iTunes hanging on close, and I can sync my older iPods fine.
hi, i have ipod nano 3g, os: windows xp.
i've been having the same problem, so i went and deleted Apple Mobile Device Support from my control panel cos there was no AppleMobileDevice Helper as Katrina S. said. after doing that my itunes seems to close normaly but now my computer does not recognize my ipod anymore (neither explorer, nor itunes).
