window out of range / unreachable

Hello fellows.

sometimes when I unplug my second monitor the windows (like finder) are quite at the edge of the screen and I will have to drag them back into the center in order to look at them.

Now one window is so far away I cannot reach it anymore! Only the exposé function tells me that it is actually there. Since I do not have my 2nd monitor anywhere near I am quite in need of some help here! The window is too far away to reach it!

Does anyone have a hint?

Thank you,
Niko.

hmm, ok, is this a finder window? if so you can reset finder preferences which control window positions.

delete (or move to the desktop) the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and relaunch finder by entering the following in terminal

killall Finder

also, with finder you can simply enter command optionw to close all finder windows. same with other applications btw.

similar things work with other applications if it's an application and not a finder window.

Once again: Thank you V.K.

I had exactly the same idea. But actually it is not a finder window. It is a program called KeePassX. Unfortunately I am not very familiar with the way Mac OSX stores application settings for programs other than apple...

In the whole library directory I cannot find an entry called keepass.

Weird thing is: I cannot imagine that I am the first person to encounter this issue?!

you are certainly not the first with this issue. have you tried doing
command optionw when KeePassX is acvtive. that ought to close that window.

If it doesn't do a finder search for KeePassX inside the Library folder in your home directory.

you'll need to include system files in your search. in a search window click on +, then on "Kind" scroll and click on "Other". this will bring up a popup with all possible search parameters. choose "system files" and set to include.

This should find the local preference file for KeePassX. quit KeePassX, move that file to the desktop and start KeePassX again.

The command optionw thing closes only the database; but not the window. same for command+w. for other windows it works fine...

I found two KeePassX.plist files. Moved them - nothing. Deleted them - nothing. Emptied trash - nothing. Restarted KeePass and computer - no nothing!

Strange enough: The login window appears in the middle of the screen. after that the interface dissappears in its corner - somewhere.

Thanx again for helping.
