Inserting pauses in voice-overs

I'm creating a movie in iMovie '08 and have added a song from my iTunes library. At certain points in the movie, I want to pause the music so that the audio from the video clip can be heard. Then I want to resume the song. Is is possible to do this?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.2), iPhone, video iPod 40 GB

It is straightforward to lower the volume of the song to zero as the voice track plays. You do this by clicking on the clip you want to do this for. Click the audio icon in the clip, and adjust the ducking feature. When you are ready for the music to come back, it will come back as if the music has still been playing so it will come back later in the song.Alternatively, you can adjust the volume of the voice track to zero so you only hear the music.

To do a pause is a little more complicated. You would need to drag the song in and pin it to the first clip that you need the music. The song will be a rectangular bar under the clip thumbnails. YOu can drag the right edge of the bar to the left by clicking and dragging until the song as at the point where you want to start the pause. Now drag another copy of the song to the clip where you want to resume after the pause. Drag the left edge of the rectangle to the right until the song starts at the right position to end the pause.
