Commodities on Stock Function?

Has anyone figured out a way to check basic commodity prices (oil/barrel, precious metals/troy oz, grain/bushel, etc) on the Stock function on their iPhone? I've tried everything I could think of, but since they don't have a company name or stock trading symbol, no luck.

PC, Windows XP, iPhone

yeah, I have crude oil futures displaying on my iPhone stock app.

This is how it works...

Crude Oil is CL
Then there is a month indicator.

Jan = F
Feb = G
Mar = H
Apr = J
May = K
Jun = M
Jul = N
Aug = Q
Sep = U
Oct = V
Nov = X
Dec = Z

Then the two digit year.

Soooo the crude oil selling right now is CLV08 for October delivery

The iPhone will find it, but you have to tell it what exchange you're looking in, and Crude trades on NYMEX....

SO simply plug this in - CLV08.NYM and that's it. At the end of the month, you delete that one, and plug in CLX08.NYM for November.

As far as the other ones, they work the same way, but don't know their symbols, so I'll leave you and google to figure that out.

After reading Brett's very useful reply above and a little mucking about, I think I got it:

Go to http://finance.yahoo.com/indices (no trailing slash), it shows many indexes, and shows all of Yahoo!'s symbols for them. Click Commodities Futures (left center of the page), and oil shows as CLX08.NYM. (As Brett explained, the 3rd byte will change every month or so; I just added these to my phone last week, so I don't know when they change, but since oil has about 10 dates listed and gold has 4, I'm guessing they change sometime during the month that they specify.)
