Connected to VPN, but cannot ping any remote computers
Let me explain my little headache.
Firstly, let me start by saying that I've googled around a lot, and made a lot of search on this forum. Most of the problem people are having are the same, but none of the solution proposed to them worked for me.
I also want to say that I've posted in the Leopard Server section, but this could also be in the Tiger or other version, it is more a setup/configuration problem, than an issue with the operating system.
I presently have a VPN PPTP server on my Leopard Server, which I can connect to from anywhere.
The server is not my DHCP nor it is my NAT server. These last two services are on my Apple Time Capsule router.
I've forwarded ports 1723 PPTP and 47 GRE to my Leopard server in my router.
My LAN is on the subnet/submask; 192.168.8.0/255.255.255.0, this is all set into the router.
My remote site subnet/submask is; 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0.
In the router, the DHCP server is set to provide IP address between 150 - 170.
In the VPN server configuration, the IP address range is set to 200 - 220.
There's one rule in the Network routing definition which is; 192.168.8.0/255.255.255.0 - Private. According to the documentation, this will make any request addressed to any IP on the subnet, go through the VPN tunnel.
In the VPN server configuration, the DNS is set to my router IP address; 192.168.8.1 .
I can connect to my VPN server, I get an IP address between 200 - 220, but I am unable to ping nor access through samba any of the remote computers, including the Leopard server.
Any idea would be appreciated.
