First off, its not a 3G.

Earlier it was running really slow and wouldn't process anything. So I figured I'd turn it off for a bit and let it rest. I slid it to turn it off and the revolving circle never went away, it keeps spinning. Its been over half an hour and I don't know what to do.

Have you tried resetting it or plugging into iTunes in resotre mode or something like that? I have a similar problem that I can't turn my phone off, but the problem isn't that I can turn it off, because I can, but after about 2 seconds, it turns itself back on again, every time. It's pretty annoying if I'm away from a charger for a while and I want to turn it off occasionally when I don't need it to save battery.

I have a similar problem with my edge iPhone running the 1.1.4 firmware. About 7 weeks ago when the phone was 10 months old, it started this won't shut off routine. Everything else works fine, when you try to turn it off, it goes through the shut down process, turns off for 1-2 minutes and then turns itself back on. Have not tried restore mode as yet. Waiting for a new stable firmware update to try first.

I have the same issue with my non-3G iPhone. Shutting off seems to now just reboot it. I just noticed this happening as I really don't shut it off all that much but now that i want to, I can't. I'll try the restore and see what happens.

    Hi EnzoX24,

Is the iPhone updated to iPhone software 2.2? If not, try installing iPhone software 2.2. http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/

Also, try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone.

I have been having the same problem for a few weeks.

I have just had the bright idea that the problem might actually be dirt/dust under the sleep/wake switch.

I blew strongly into the switch and the problem has gone away.

    Hope this helps.
