Help!

Me neither, I didn't manage to sync any calendar or contact in my iPod 3rd gen.
My first Nano worked well and synced everything i asked.

With this one, I tried the mode disk, I reboot and reset it, before and after the sync, and I updated the iPod software!

I checked in the file "Calendars" in my iPod: all my calendars are here, but when I click in the menu "Calendars" of my iPod, it says "no events for this day", although there are!

I believe a have found the solution. My ical would not sync with my MobileMe, but it the MM worked fine with my iPhone 3G. Here is what I did to resolve the problem.
1. My MM had duplicated my calendars online, but not on my phone.
2. I made sure my data on my computer was correct
3. I followed all the steps Apple support had suggested and none worked.
4. I reset my calendar data (only calendar) under advanced.
4.1 here's the important part - when resetting data choose from computer to mobileme - apple support never said which way to go, but this way worked after many attempts otherwise.

It looks like part of the problem is that the MobileMe servers are just quite slow in updating all of the information.

I have run experiments sync'ing the following clients to the cloud:

- iPhone 2G running 2.0 Firmware
- OSX 10.5.4 iCal
- WinXP SP2 Outlook 2003

In some cases, I found that the MobileMe website would take up to 5 minutes after a sync from any of the clients. Likewise, downstream data sync (cloud to client) can take an indeterminate amount of time.

In most (if not all) of my test cases, the data eventually got sync'd, but it took a while.

What I found was that if I tried to sync IN BETWEEN sync flushes things would get fouled up and I would see this "inconsistent data" message. It seems SyncService is faster at recording changes that the cloud & clients are at updating!

So, it appears to me that MobileMe is NOT happy if you do something like this:

1) Change data A from a client X
2) Sync client X
3) Change same data A from alternate client Y
4) Sync client Y
5) Sync client X

Instead, I think what works pretty reliably is the following:

1) Change data A from a client X
2) Sync client X
*******WAIT*********
3) Change same data A from alternate client Y
4) Sync client Y
*******WAIT*********
5) Sync client X

In particular, accessing MobileMe data from the web browser interface seemed to cause me a lot of problems. When I left the web browser alone and just changed data from the Outlook, iCal (and Address Book), and the iPhone, everything was eventually fine.

The lesson I'm taking away is simple: SLOW DOWN

Hope this is helpful!

It's not really a solution for everyone but this is what I did to fix the problem. In my case this happened when I bought one of the new 'piano black' macbook pros and tried to sync the first time. The migration assistant wasn't helping me restore from my Time Machine backup because it wanted to restore my iCal along with everything else to a new user on the computer, which I didn't want to do. It was easy enough to migrate the Photos, and I keep my iTunes stuff on an external disk so that won't be a problem but this was killing me.

Step by step. Started from the old mac, turned off sync, all calendars safely on the old mac

from the new mac

1) turn on mobile me sync, everything was syncing fine except calendar
2) from new mac calendar, deleted "work" calendar so only 'Home' existed
3) from new mac, reset sync data, overwrite mobile me with blank calendar info
4) sync from new mac (this works)

back to old mac (with sync off)

5) applications > ical calendars all there
6) File > Backup iCal...
7) saved it out to the Time Machine on the local LAN

back to new mac

8) applications > ical (with sync on)
9) iCal > Restore iCal...
10) picked the new file out on the time machine
11) sync with mobile me (all info back in the cloud now)

back to old mac

12) turn .mac sync on (this time I left it manual, but i don't think it matters)
13) sync now, resolved a few "conflicts" by just accepting what was on mobile me

Done!

calendar info from the old laptop loaded onto the new one, mobile me syncing just fine
