itunes 7.7.1.11

I updated iTunes yesterday (or was it the day before? I can't remember) as prompted. However, since then I have encountered two problems.

I manage my podcasts manually, and when I tried to transfer some podcasts from my iTunes library to my iPod as normal, they wouldn't sync. My iPod Touch would bring up the 'syncing' screen for a couple of seconds, before returning to the home screen and NOT having updated. It didn't seem to happen with all podcasts, and some worked if I re-downloaded them, but not all.

Secondly, it seems to think my apps all need updating, when in fact they are all up-to-date (confirmed by connecting my iPod to wi-fi and accessing the app store through that.

The same problem is happening with my Nano 3G. iTunes 'completes' the syncing but the songs are not in my iPod. I have reset my iPod and have re-installed iTunes, nothing works. I even tried re-installing v7.6, but it detects the v7.7-modified files and fails.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! it was working sooo well before the 'update' - this has been really frustrating!

I have another annoying bug after updating to 7.7.1.

When I'm trying to exit iTunes the program freezes. The only solution is to kill the process manually from the Task Manager.

I have this problem at home and at work and my friends all encounted the same problem.

Seriously, you would think that a big company like Apple should be able to create a stable windows app. But no. iTunes for windows has always been packed with small and big bugs. And it's not like iTunes accually does anything speciall compared to all my other apps on my computer. Time to realize that the majority of your market on iPods and iPones accually has PC with Windows?

tbh i've never really had that many problems with itunes before. sounds like i may have been lucky.
i wouldnt mind if the major releases had slight bugs, but if the minor updates, which usually make no obvious change to the existing itunes, have bugs then i think it's a bit daft, surely these are supposed to fix bugs? then again, apple are a massive company, what the **** are they doing releasing things while they still have bugs in them?

I don't know what they are doing! I would love to see the test plan they executed to release this version of iTunes. I figure they may be sooo focused on the new iPhone they may have forgotten they support a significant portfolio of other compatible products. It is very disappointing.

BTW, I never had any problems before, until now. If you search for issues with this version of iTunes on the web, you will find a significant amount of users who are having all kinds of problems. I just can't understand what the Apple quality department is (NOT) doing.

I will try going back to version 7.6 later today, but doing so, I will sacrifice my 100+ playlists. It will take me a while to redo them! 😟

<SIGH> This *****!

Same problem here. Update my software, now won't sync anything. "complete" after about 5 seconds, with no changes made to my Touch. The App updates are completely screwed up as well. Before the "Update" for the App store was a little flaky, now it's completely broken! There is an update for EVERY App I have! Funny, after I download all the supposed updates, there are still updates for the same Apps, and is more than happy to just keep downloading the same file over and over again until I have 50 copies of the SAME App...

I downloaded the new update yesterday and it is causing nothing but problems. I have an iPod Classic and any time I attempt to sync to iTunes, the program freezes and the iPod hangs on the connected screen. I don't even need to involve the iPod to freeze 7.7.1.11, all I have to do is try and play a media file in the library, and the music will freeze, then replay the last 3 seconds played before the freeze, wait, and then do it again. iTunes downloaded my plus upgrades, except for one, claiming that there is no network connectivity, even though iTunes diagnostics show that it can see my network.

iTunes was working fine until this "fix" came down. Any solutions?

I'm really getting upset. I was having the problems with 7.7, and tonight when the prompt appeared to upgrade to 7.7.1, I thought this would be the fix to my problems. My daughter attempted to help me after I did the 7.7 upgrade, and somehow or other my iPod was wiped clean. All 9000+ songs. I had everything that I don't own a physical copy of backed up, thank goodness. But I had deleted all of my CDs off because iTunes is such a big ol' computer hog. Oh well, I guess I should be thankful I can load them back on - MAYBE - if they'll ever get this thing fixed.

I'm having the same problems other people are having. It won't recognize my iPod. When I plug my iPod in, iTunes freezes up. When I check the task manager, it indicates "not responding". If I don't have my iPod connected, iTunes works fine.

I'm no computer whiz - I'm afraid to attempt the uninstalling and reinstalling and all that other stuff. And I see that some people are saying it doesn't work even after doing all that stuff. And I'm totally blown away that you have to pay for tech support. That's just plain crazy.

The whole situation is really bumming me out. Music means so much to me and now I can't update my bleeping iPod and Apple isn't saying a thing about it. How long is this going to go on? If anyone cares to share in my sorrow and complaining, email me at brendalove@gmail.com

Yep, iTunes freezes whenever I try to minimize, maximize or shut down the application. Only using 'shut down' through the Task Manager in Windows(XP) will painfully kill the frozen iTunes (several subsequent attempts necessary).
iTunes 7.7.1.11: The 'King of bugs'.

(The first time I installed iTunes, some time ago on my laptop it didn't authenticate my downloads. They just would'nt play. No solution given by their support department. I had to mess around in the iTunes files, deleting some of them, reinstall iTunes etc. Which wasn't easy because of my antivirus program (Nod32) or other security features on my laptop PC, preventing them to be deleter, renamed or even moved. I can't remeber how I finally did it, but it worked after using try & error and DIY elbow grease, with a lot of patience.)

Good luck!
