setting up Midi - no keyboard icon

I am trying to connect a MIDI keyboard but my MacBook doesn't "see" the MIDI instrument.

I have an Edirol PCR-M30, which is a very basic inputting keyboard similar to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Edirol-PCR-300-Midi-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B000OSASOQ/ref= pdbbs_sr1?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1217694202&sr=8-1 It worked fine on my old iBook, with an earlier version of Garageband.

Even though I have installed the drivers for the keyboard (well, I think I have - I followed the instructions in the manual) when I go to Audio MIDI Setup and name the external devices, there is no icon representing my keyboard to connect the "New External Device" icons to. This did not happen with my old iBook.

MacBook 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.3), Edirol PCR M30
