Each time I email a photo from my iphone, the recipients say they receive duplicate messages of the same email. Seems to happen if original message has a problem sending the first time; i.e. message "Photo Delivery Failed", exiting out of mail application before picture is sent, etc.
I am having the same issue as you, with a bunch of photos being sent repeatedly even though it tells me that the photo delivery failed! What I did is switch to Wifi and out of Edge right before I sent the photo. It then sends the photo via email in about 10 seconds. Once it's sent, I then switch back to Edge. It's annoying, but at least the photos only get sent one time! Hope that helps you out.
I'm having the same problem. Switching to wireless is usually not an option for me. It seems that the email is sending the photo but not getting confirmation of success, so the email stays in the outbox. Some of the photos send a few dups and then go away, while others stay in the outbox and keep sending themselves. If you delete them from the outbox, that will stop the dups.
I have Yahoo! mail. Is this a Yahoo problem or an iPhone problem? Also, I've seen this happen before the 2.0 upgrade so it's not new.
Exactly my symptoms: sending photos works well if I have a WiFi signal, but if I'm on the Edge network, my recipient receives three copes -- eventually.
I'm having the same problem. Using Yahoo. My recipients have been getting the email every few minutes for over an hour and a half. Not happy.
I've been getting the message "failed to send message.." on my phone - the only thing I can do is click OK. Nothing can stop it. Now that I think about it - its happened every time I'm on EDGE. I have s/w 2.0.
I just realized something. Before deploying the iphone to users we got two units to test with and for a month there were no issues. The main difference between the users that are sending duplicate emails and the test units is i used the iphone configuration utility on the rest of the deployment. did anyone else use that tool as well?
Has there been a resolution to this published somewhere? I see the conversation stopped years ago, but I have this issue. When you are emailing photos from overseas, it gets expensive to have them sending themselves 3 and 4 times... Any help would be appreciated.
Make sure your iPhone is updated, just click the iPhone of the left side of iTunes, then click Check for updates on the Summary tab. More information about updating and restoring the iPhone available here:

If the iPhone is updated and you continue to see the issue you may want to try removing the email account and adding it again or restoring the iPhone.
Thank you for the reply Jason. Yes, my phone software is up-to-date (2.1). I have restored since first discovering the issue, and due to another issue I was having, I did recently remove my email account entirely and then re-configured it. I appreciate the suggestion though- let me know if you think of anything else.
I have had this problem for a long time now & have never been able to fix it. I even got a new iPhone last week (original, non-3G) to replace my old damaged iPhone & I am still having this problem. I've done all things you suggested & nothing has worked. Any other suggestions/fixes?
