Apps that will kill your text notification sound

I have found two apps that will kill your text notification sound. Loopt and Weather bug.

If you know of any others post here and let others know.

I also messaged the makers of the apps to let them know of this issue.

I have neither of those apps and my SMS sound, and other sounds, have dropped out from time to time. I don't know about Loopt, but I know that WeatherBug doesn't even call sound events.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with a specific app, but rather general memory leaks.

Hopefully the 2.0.1 update has fixed it.

Both apps use sms to get their information, and turn off the sound so you are not constantly bombarded by the notification sound. There are other apps that also get there information through sms and not 3g 2g and edge. It's not a apple issue. The only way apple could fix this problem would be to block apps from changing your settings.

I bet if you uninstalled all your apps then went back and installed them and tested the sound by sending a text to recive a text you would find the exact app or apps that are causing your issue. weather bug does give notification when there is a weather advisory ie... tornado, sever thunder storms, flooding.
