Cannot download Iphone software update

Try rebooting your computer (at least 3 times).

I have the same issue with iTunes 7.7.1

The download of iPhone software update 2.0.1 stops stalls and I get an error and I have to restart the download from scratch even though it seems to have downloaded part of it.

This is VERY annoying...

I have the exact same problem. My iPhone cannot update, iTunes crashes right at the end of firmware downloads every time with some "connection error"... when clearly it isnt a connection problem because it always downloads the 200MB file, it just fails at the end! Then if i try restore from a backup it gives me -5 error... So now im stuck with a brick phone...

So disappointed, dont think ill ever buy apple again.

A solution would probably be to download the update file directly to your disk, and update from that.

I don't have a direct link for it though, I bet someone else here can help with that.

I had the same problem. Not only that-the iphone which was plugged in froze solid.

I solved the problem by connecting to a different computer.

I have the exact same problem, but it wasn't only with the 2.0.1, it was with the 2.0 software as well...

Updating the iPhone software 2.0.1 requires a native USB 2.0 connection port. Some PCI adaptors may work ok, but the download is more sensitive than a regular sync to iTunes. iTunes sync can be done through most any USB 2.0 connection.

Hi i was just wondering if anybody could help me.im getting very frustrated but i cant download the new update for the iphone,it seems to download like normal,but just when you think that it has worked it says stopped (err=.3259 and that the network connection has timed out,if somebody out there could help me it would be much appreciated thankyou

post about previous updates being blocked by ESET NOD32 anti virus, which blocks itunes

Tried to exclude itunes/apple software update, didnt help.
uninstalling ESET did the job for now

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice about temporarily turning off nod 32,once i did that it upgraded perfectly

You need to make sure you change your settings so that the iPhone does not lock on its own.
