MSN:MAC problems

i searched and couldn't find anything about this on here.

i use msn for mac, it was working fine on saturday, but when i woke up on sunday morning it just wont connect, all it says is "not connecting to the service, the service may be unavailable or you may not be connected to the internet". I use aMSN and mercury and neither of them work, they all say they cant connect, is anyone else having this problem? or just me?

it works perfectly fine on web based messenger so its obviously not my password thats the problem.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jon,

Just replying as I'm having the exact same problem as you.

When I try and use MSN, AMSN (and even tried installing the new MSN 7), all with the same "not connecting to the service, the service may be unavailable or you may not be connected to the internet" message. BUT, I can use MSN and AMSN (logging into the same MSN account) on a different mac....

Both macs are using MSN 6 (and now 7), the same version of AMSN, and running 10.4.9.

Anyone got a solution...?

Hy there, I have one similar problem.

- My Messenger or any other software works fine on my OSX at my home.

BUT.

When I'm at work, I can't use ANY software doesn't matter the configuration, I've tried all then, and all configurations.

The Funniest Thing, I need to use my Fusion at my Bootcamp windows to use the Messenger, It's very frustrating that the only thing that I'm not able to use on Mac OS is the Messenger.

I've tried meebo also to check Web based Chats and it works fine.

I hope somebody here can give us a good explanation.

amsn-0-97-final2-1.dmg

This version, has one option to connect using the HTTP and it's fixed.

And it works fine.

A small explanation that I found, it's because somehow the MSN for Windows redirect from any port for a Http one, and the Mac wich uses the port 1863 can have some problems.

This aMSN that is a clone over the msn has the option to use http conection that works fine.

sorry about the very simple explanation.
I hope the developers from msn can fix it, until there I will stick on the community side.

Thanks man, Ive been having alot of trouble getting into msn and although I love macs my friends and family use windows, so I keep in contact with them on MSN IM. I also had peer guardian and after reading what you wrote noticed I had microsoft checked also, after unchecking it MSN worked perfectly thanks for the advice.
