And I thought I was the only one who was tearing their hair out! My nano (3g) is frozen on cover flow too. I have gone through the troubleshooting process countless times (including downloading and installing the latest s/w 6 times today, installing the latest updates of Windows, let the battery run down then recharged it, held the Menu and Select button, used a different USB port, restarted my laptop, and selected the Repair option). I am unable to choose the Restore option as the Device option does not appear on the iTunes source menu (when the iPod has been connected in either USB port. Sometimes the following message appears: "Preparing iPod for recovery: ITunes needs to prepare your iPod for recovery. Please leave your iPod connected. Continue/Cancel". I have lost count of the times I have clicked Continue only for the same message to appear some time later. I am about to stamp on it and go back to my CD player! Any suggestions gratefully received!
