how to backup iphone completely before software update?
I did the software 2.0 update and lost songs...now I have many applications and songs I don't want to lose.....how do I do a complete backup before the 2.0.1 update and double check to make sure that my stuff is backed-up? Then after the update, how do I restore all my backups to make my iphone the same as it was before?
Control Click or Right Click your iPhone in the left pane of iTunes when it is connected. You can select backup there. I can't tell you if it does a full, because I have never used it.

In iTunes under Devices right click on your iPhone and select Backup.
Click the Update/Check For Update button
It will download and install the update. It took a total of 8 minutes for me.
what about applications? were you able to backup any purchased applications? so, everything was there from this one backup step you talked about....all your contacts, notes, ipod content, applications, voice recordings, text messages, emails, etc?
Dude, that's the only way to get responses on this forum (from experience...people ignore people that really need help on this forum...and that is really sad!.....and I do believe that my question fits into all three categories. Why shouldn't I post it more than once? and why does it bother you so much?
and thank you, michaelworks, for answering my question....I have been ignored on this site before when I have really needed help and I do appreciate that you answered my question....and I am sorry that I got upset when you informed me that I posted the question elsewhere.
I get stressed out over technology and I so much appreciate the help I get from this site.
after you click on backup and everything is backed-up, where can I go to see the backup folder on my computer or is it in itunes somewhere? I just want to see that everything is indeed backed-up before I do the software upgrade.
No problem, but many will ignore posters with multiple posts about what they consider the same question. I haven't seen where a backup didn't hold everything. Sometimes you have to trust posters like albino and go for it. Here is a website with articles and help with the update.
