iPhone 3G works with Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo

I just wanted to drop a quick note letting folks know that my iPhone 3G works flawlessly with my new Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo. Charging and playing music from the iPhone's iPod work well. As an added bonus I can also play Pandora music through my car speakers with the system. I do get the "This is not a supported accessory do you want to enable Airplane mode?" question but I answer "No" and haven't had a problem.

In case anyone is in the market for a new car stereo to work with their iPhone 3g I recommend the Alpine iDA-X100 or X200 head units.

After all the problems which I had mentioned above, I ended up upgrading to an IDA-X100. So far it seems to be fine, and I've used it on a couple of longer journeys.

Only problem now is that I've just ordered a new car and just discovered it doesn't have a DIN slot on it for an after-market headunit, so off to eBay with the X100. Typical after just buying it....

I have opted for an iPhone compatible audio interface on my new car, so hopefully that will work!

I have the IDA-X100 for about a month now. Im using a 1.1.4 iPhone and it will work for about 2 to 3 minutes before giving me the Error 01 or Error 03 then freezing. This will happen everytime and I still have not gotten through an entire song but if I put the airplane mode on it seems to work fine. Is there a fix for this issue. I hate missing calls to hear music.

Hi guys, I bought the x100 about two weeks ago and it works flawlessly with my 3g. The only issue is it doesn't charge the phone. I put myself on the email list of the adapter that someone mentioned earlier and will give it a try when available. I think Alpine came out with the x100 due to the problems they were having with their older models (drop out). I've been an Alpine fan since the late 90's and can say the x100 rocks. It's got a good bit of power built in and interfaces with the 3g nicely.

I just hope there's not an update to the iphone that will somehow make it not work with the x100 - I love this new deck.

*The IDA-X100 charges the iPhone 3G fine*. I've had a great experience with it - it seems to play every song on my iPhone without a glitch. Only thing I would like to improve is for Alpine to update the software running on the head unit to support genius playlists and a few other features I miss on my iPhone. Unfortunately you can't access the iPod application on the iPhone whilst it's connected to the head unit (you have to use the head unit's controls).

Only a minor issue though. If you want a great in car system for your iPhone, get the IDA-X100 and Bluetooth module. It all works like a charm.

I just bought the x100 for use with my original-model iPhone running 2.02. It seems very buggy as far as playback goes, not sure about the charging part yet. Is there any way to have it recognize Pandora? I accomnplished this at the shop with a lesser model and stupidly assumed the x100 would have this capability, but I cannot make it work.
Because of this I decided to use an old iPod Photo (60gb) with it instead, which it does not recognize at all.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated!

So the audio dropouts are still a problem? This is an issue with the phone and not the unit? Anyone get in touch with either Apple or Alpine about this?

I'm about to buy an iDA-X200, but this isn't encouraging.

Also, how is BT integration with this unit? Can you have the iPhone in the glovebox and make and receive calls without issues?

Should I just save up for the X100 instead?

Don't buy X200. Still no fix after six months from iPhone 2.0 relase... Apine support seems to be really horrible.

I've purchased analogue KCE-422i Full speed cable (another $25 investment to this crappy unit) to solve this problem, but this is just worse - 001 ERROR and playback freeze in intervals similar to audio drop-out while using USB High Speed cable.

Specification from official Alpine website:

Compatibility for iPod®: USB Connection: 5th Generation iPod and1st Gen. iPod nano, +*Full Speed Connection: iPhone,*+ 4th & 5th Gen. iPod Photo, iPod mini and 1st Gen. iPod nano

Unbelievable.
