Texas Hold 'em app will not open

I tap Apple's Texas Hold 'em app, and it gives me a text bubble saying: "The application 'HoldEm' cannot be opened."
Any ideas as to why, and should I reinstall the app from the app store?

I have the same problem. I was assuming that it was after I cancelled an update. It was downloading one but I already had the latest version.

What I now suspect is that the problem is more related to the fact that I purchased it on the iPod Touch and the problems have started after a sync with iTunes. (I think there was possibly an update to iTunes in-between as well.)

The problem with doing delete/re-install is that when I look at HoldEm in the store from iTunes, it asks me to pay for it again which further leads me to think it is a sync problem. Plus, I dont want to pay for it twice thankyou very much Mr Jobs.

I have reported a problem against the app and have had the automated response promising someone will look at it within 48 hours..

When I next get time I might look through the logs to get the proper order of events. I did check the file in the iTunes library and it is there and at first glance the permissions look ok. Unfortunately you cannot browse the filesystem on the iPod.

All other applications work fine and indeed Hold'Em worked fine for a while.
I wish I could remember the last time it actually worked.

Tonight I discovered that if I hold my IT vertically when playing Texas Hold 'em, I get an entirely new screen more like the real game. The only negative I see is that the game runs a bit slower in this mode.

Did this game work like this on the first version? I have the updated version. Re the troubles above in this thread, I had similar trouble when I first installed the latest update. I had to go back and download the game again to get it working.

It had that feature in the last version too...

I'm adding to this because I had something similar happen...I updated iTunes, did a backup of my Touch and then started getting updates to apps. I saw Hold Em was taking forever and I had to leave for work. Once it showed "Installing" I thought I was safe so I left the house, breaking my wifi connection. I saw later that the Hold Em icon was showing "waiting". Oops. So I got home and tried to get it going again. No luck. I saw the app update in iTunes on my computer and so downloaded it there. But then it went away. App Store on the Touch showed no updates and Hold Em as already installed. Deselecting Hold Em checkbox on Apps tab in iTunes on computer then syncing did nothing. The icon just mocked me with "Waiting" on the Touch. Then I did what was mentioned below. I held the power button for all I was worth til it showed "Slide to turn off". I did that then powered the Touch back on. No HoldEm icon. Yay, I think I'm almost there. Re-select checkbox in iTunes on computer and sync. Yep, taking awhile so it's installing to the Touch. And VOILA..it's done and back on the Touch now.

I'm gonna remember that little trick..seriously for teh reals turning the thing off! Whodathunkit?

Aw, man. One little setback: it lost my earnings. Oh well, now I'll have to play it again and again to get the winnings back up to where they were.
